Moon Maiden

Saturday saw the monthly Art Walk in the Pomona Arts Colony. It also happened to be the last Art Walk to include my friend Nancy's shop, Moon Maiden Glass Studios. After 7 years, she's closing the studio to pursue another endeavor- opening a jazz lounge in Claremont Village.

Nancy is a great glass artist whose works can be seen in public and private spaces in the Pomona area and beyond. She's done beautiful mosaics, stained glass windows, jewelry and kaleidioscopes, among other creations. I'm sorry she will no longer be working with glass, but I'm sure her next venture will be even more successful.

After the Art Walk, Nancy and her fiancee Jerry held one of their classic parties at their place (the rear of the shop is their loft apartment). As always, it was a fun and eclectic mix of friends and passers-by.

Good luck, Nancy- and congrats to you and Jerry on the long-awaited engagement. I'm happy for you guys.

Hey Charlie! Oh, I mean, Eric! What a cool event. It sounds sort of like the Second Saturday art walk up here in Sac but with dancing and chicas bonitas. Did you get your groove on as well? Man, I had no idea that Pomona had so much to offer! Other than the DMV, I've never really spent much time there. Wow. I'll have to check it out sometime. And let me know when Nancy opens up the jazz lounge, I'd like to go there too.

I had no clue either that Pomona had an art vibe going on. I clicked on one of your links and there are quite a few galleries. Impressive. Looks festive. Do they have free wine and cheese in the galleries like they do here in Sactown?

Yeah, it's a pretty cool little area. It's restricted to only a few blocks, and the surrounding area is kind of iffy, so it hasn't quite caught on like other historic old town areas.

I didn't see wine and cheese, but I did see chips and salsa.
